Hurry Up and Wait!

Hurry up and wait! Have you ever felt that way? Well, that's sort of how the leadership feels now in the negotiations to purchase the old Rockwell Furniture building. We've negotiated back and forth for two weeks to the point where we now feel that the Lord is telling us to stop for a moment and wait on Him. But waiting on the Lord does not mean doing nothing. Waiting on God means seeking His will. So, over the next few weeks, we as a church body will seek God's will together.

The church leadership met recently to discuss the current offer from the sellers and, though the counter to the counter to the counter ?is within the realm of financial possibility, we feel like the Lord has led us to send the sellers a letter explaining that we are taking the next few weeks to talk and pray with the whole church.

Our strategy, then, is two-fold.  First, we plan to take the Sunday Celebration on June 12th to worship, pray, and seek the Lord’s will in this matter.  It will be a unique time of bonding as a church family and of learning how to follow the Spirit’s lead in decision-making.  Everyone will get to play!  So, please make a special effort to attend on Sunday morning, June 12th.  Secondly, we will take a portion of time in our home groups over the next few weeks to discuss the situation, answer questions, and pray together.  So, please make a special effort to get to a home group in the next few weeks.  In addition to these formal strategies, we encourage you to spend some quiet time with the Lord in prayer about this situation and let me know if you receive any impression from the Spirit in and through the Scriptures (simply email me: ).  We believe God speaks to all who listen, so, we encourage you to make the effort to listen to what the Lord says about proceeding with the search for a ministry facility.

We don’t know exactly how this process will end.  We don’t know exactly why the Lord has brought us to this point in the negotiations and asked us to wait.  We don’t know if He plans to grant us the building or not.  We can be sure, though, that His goal for us is far higher than just a building.  His goal is to grow us together as a church and lead us into deeper relationship with Him as individuals and as a church family so that we are better equipped to change the world one person at a time.  Let’s expect great things from God over the next few weeks as we seek Him together.

[Remember: Be sure to attend the Celebration Service on June 12th and a home group that next week to be a part of God’s work.]

Blessings,
Chris
