I don't know about you, but as I listen to the news reports of the war from the government and the armed forces, I am skeptical of what I hear. Don't get me wrong, I want to trust that what I hear is the truth, and I think that for the most part it is. But I am confident that any report of the war that gets to my unclassified ears has been, at the very least, watered down to the very basics and, at the most, altered to lead me to view things in the desired way.
Maybe this is a necessary element of how the government deals with people, but partial-truths and only surface news reporting does not fit in the church. Therefore, it is my desire that as the leadership of this church develops, we will clearly and accurately communicate the whole truth to those we are leading.
So, the next few weeks of Cornerstones will be presented for the purpose of communicating where the leadership of this church is headed and how we believe that God is developing us as a particular light in this community.
As a first communique, I want you to know that I have chosen 9 people “of good standing, full of the Spirit and of wisdom” (Acts 6:3) to serve as an Advisory Council. They were chosen because of their commitment to Jesus as their Lord, their ability and desire to hear His voice, their commitment to God’s call on their lives to this church, and their commitment to me personally as their friend and co-laborer. We have met monthly since January with the three-fold task being to pray, think, and dream about the present and future of our church.
The next few Cornerstones will communicate more fully how we see God leading us in the immediate and long-term future, but for now, know that we are excited about God’s mission for us and excited about partnering with you to accomplish that mission.
The following people are members of the Advisory Council. Please contact any one of us with your questions or concerns:
Chris and Rebecca Barth
Kathy Bomba
Ted and Leslie Buehrer
Paul and Mo Helser
Kirtene Macky
Sharon Mutchler
Blessings,
Chris
