As we move forward in 2004, I think it's important that we know what God has called us to be. Though the future is unknown, God has given the leadership of the church a vision, a clear picture of what we see the church being or doing. Vision is the product of God working in us. He creates the vision and we receive it. It becomes our rallying point, a goal toward which we move as His people.
Here is our vision statement:
We envision a church that:
equips people to live the Christian life and do the ministry of Jesus,
exalts God in worship,
engages people in fellowship,
expresses our faith in ministry, and
expands God’s kingdom through missions.
EQUIPS PEOPLE TO LIVE AND MINISTER…
a church that acts as a training center for life interactive with God, that equips people to live their everyday lives in interactive relationship with God as his friend and partner in the context of their circle of influence.
a church that recognizes Scripture as our ultimate training tool and the Author as our ultimate Trainer.
a church in which every member is a minister, not just the pastor(s). In fact, we desire that the pastor(s) focus their time and energy on equipping the members for ministry.
a church in which the teaching is applicable to everyday life and naturally leads people into deeper commitment to Jesus and action in the world.
a church in which families are valued and parents are supported and equipped to raise their children in a way that pleases God and blesses others.
a church in which we take our youth seriously enough to equip them to do ministry with one another and in the world.
