Sermon Audio from Sunday, August 7, 2005 — As you know, we've spent the summer looking at Old Testament "saints," the point being to study characters in the Bible who walked by the Spirit in order that we might be encouraged to do the same. We've seen Rahab, Job, Moses, and Abraham, and watched how they listened for the voice of God and responded with devotion when faced with a directive from God (or in Job's case, silence from God). Each example is impressive, someone who, when push came to shove, displayed powerful faith. But as Chris said last week, what we really hope to accomplish in looking at these people is to take them off of any pedestal they might be on in our minds and bring them to our very level with the hope that they and their examples become accessible to us in our own lives. With that in mind, I've got a great "saint" for us to examine, in that I doubt he is on a pedestal for anyone. He most assuredly doesn't deserve to be. His name is Jonah.
