Sermon Audio from Sunday, August 14, 2005 — We're in the midst of a series on Walking with God and we're looking at the lives of Old Testament characters whom we consider models for us to follow. And today's model is Joseph whose life story is a story of mountains and valleys, a story of despair and hope, a story of peace and conflict, a story of God in the midst of adversity. This story shows us that the life of walking with God is not always easy, is not always smooth, is not always good (that is, bad things happen to good people). But Joseph's story is the story of a God who is in control, who is good, and who is with us in our adversity. One of the results of walking with God manifests itself in pain/adversity: peace in the midst of storms, assurance in the midst of confusion, hope in the midst of darkness, courage in the midst of death. Let's talk about walking with God through adversity.
