The Intimacy of an Indwelling God

Sermon Audio from Sunday, December 4, 2005 — I believe it is telling that God chose this means to come to us, to fulfill his promise in redeeming His creation. Jesus didn't descend from the clouds or rise from the sea clothed in human flesh. Connecting Himself intimately with Mary in her womb sets up the intimacy He established for all of us through His death and resurrection. Because of Christ's saving gift, each one of us is able to have the Holy Spirit - God Himself - reside in us permanently. In O.T. times the Holy Spirit came upon some people, but it was very selective and usually only for a season. Now the Holy Spirit is available for all, anyone who believes in who Jesus is and what He did. What's more, the Holy Spirit longs to redeem and reside in every person. It is a level of intimacy with the God of the universe that is miraculous and unmatched in any other religion.
