Our pastor, staff, and congregation are truly passionate about local missions. We believe that the "mission field" is not just abroad, but right here in our own backyard. We support community based outreach programs and we also offer opportunities for our members to serve our local community and love our neighbors. We also give our neighborhood "no-strings-attached" opportunities for safe family fun. Scroll down to see some of the ways VCKC is currently engaging with our most immediate neighbors.
Lamb Park is a baseball field and gathering space right in the heart of our neighborhood, just a couple blocks from the church. We hold Community meals, 4th of July neighborhood celebration, concerts, and services here. The community also has access to the baseball fields and pavilion. A concession stand is open during celebrations and baseball events. VCKC maintains this property as a gift to the community to enjoy.
Crossroads Community Playground is a natural, safe play space built for families in the community. It is located behind the church at the corner of Crystal and Broadway. There are swings, see saw, monkey bars, climbing wall and slides. The playground has a large open play space perfect for many children. Please come and enjoy the peaceful play area!
The mission house is located behind the church building. Our missionaries live there full-time, and find daily opportunities to simply introduce their neighbors to Jesus, bringing the gospel into regular life activities.
Together, our church members took what used to be a location of drug-related deaths and turned it into a real, tangible location to get to know Jesus in our neighborhood.
The exercise room is located at the back of the church, past the children's wing. This serves as a place to freely enter into better health so we can be even more effective in serving God's Kingdom.
